Vision

Talakeikapa envisions a society that is more aware of what they consume and that people have regular access to food that is safe to consume, allergen information and processes of food handling and packaging. Without this, many will continue to struggle with their health and be trapped in chaos! Tala kei Kapa na’a´ke tō ki Mala!

Mission

The background story of this proverb can easily be applied to our desire and consumption of food. Without proper awareness on allergens and how it affects many people with food allergies and intolerances, many will continue to feed on the very food that is making them unproductive, lethargic, unhealthy and sick.

There is a need for more awareness about food allergens, allergies, food intolerances, food safety, cross contamination and food labelling. As a business that initially started out on selling baked goods, there was a realization that allergens, allergies, food intolerances, food sensitivities and food safety are subjects that rarely get any attention in the Pacific. Providing delicious gluten and dairy free baked goods is only one part of the solution. Talakeikapa hopes to raise awareness and create discussions around foods that are affecting people’s health.

Initially, Talakeikapa focused on providing gluten and dairy free baked goods, but due to increasing requests from new customers, the menu has expanded to include nut free, soy free, refined sugar free, eggless and vegan options. This not only shows the high demand for allergen free foods, it also highlights that this is a universal health problem and is not limited to western countries. The effects of food allergens are complex and are affecting the lives of many people in our society.
